Hartwell´s name
[edit]I am not sure if this is relevant, but Martin Hartwell´s original name is Leopold Herrmann. He was German and a pilot for the German Luftwaffe in WWII. He moved to Canada in 1967, subsequently changing his name to Martin Hartwell. I have this information from a very old article from the well known (not respected) magazine "Die Bunte", without any date on it. And he was my grandfather's brother ;) (Jonas78 18:49, 20 July 2007 (UTC))
Flu, not appendicitis
[edit]I was living in Yellowknife at the time that this happened. As I remember, although David was diagnosed with appendicitis he had a form of infection or flu that is frequently misdiagnosed as appendicitis. This could be why he was able to help Martin so much. Reporting after Hartwell's rescue and discovery of David's journal said that Hartwell thought he was very close to Yellowknife and that David could walk there. The crash in fact was close to Great Bear Lake so Hartwell was extremely off course. David's journal seemed to indicate that he gave up the will to live. --Pajam can (talk) 02:45, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Nationality
[edit]His nationality is a bit confusing in the article. It's starts off by saying he was a Canadian bush pilot. Much later it says he was a German. This should be made clearer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.125.21.72 (talk) 19:34, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
Bibliography
[edit]All I've found at my local library is the Tadman book. He's got no bibliography in his book. Is there anything else out there? --Wtshymanski (talk) 05:33, 10 March 2013 (UTC)
